How To Upload Pictures To Instagram In Firefox With A Desktop Computer

Unfortunately, Instagram.com does not natively allow one to upload pictures via a desktop computer. Though, there are workarounds that will allow you to kind of “trick” the server to make it seem like your desktop computer is a mobile phone. This article will discuss how to upload pictures to Instagram In Firefox with a desktop computer.

In HTTP, the user agent is what your computer tells the server what kind of browser and/or operating system it is using. Normally, your desktop or laptop computer will tell the server for example that you are using Linux, Windows, or Mac, and that for example your browser is Firefox or Chrome. But, you can actually tell the server that your computer is using another OS and/or another browser. This is the workaround that will allow you to upload pictures to Instagram with your desktop or laptop computer.

Install Firefox Plugin To Change User Agent

The easiest way to change what your browser uses as its user agent name is to install a Firefox extension to change the user agent name. My favorite is called User Agent Switcher. You can install the User Agent Switcher extension here. (Note: If you are using the most recent version of Firefox known as Firefox Quantum, that extension may not work. If you are using Firefox Quantum, use this link. The steps will be similar to the ones described below.) Make sure you that you first install the extension, and then restart your browser for the installation to complete.

There are actually a few different Firefox extensions to change your user agent, so you can actually choose any one you like, but this article will talk about using the Use Agent Switcher extension. You can search for user agent extensions here.

Setting Up User Agent Switcher To Change Your User Agent For Instagram

Using the User Agent Switcher extension is very easy. After you have installed the extension, click on the menu button (which has 3 horizontal lines) then select “customize”. Drag and drop the User Agent Switcher extension to your menu bar. If you haven’t already donen so, also make sure under the button which says “Show/ Hide toolbars” that you
select menu bar option. Then click on the green button that says “Exit Customize”.

How to Use User Agent Switcher To Change Your User Agent For Instagram

After the extension has been installed and the icon is on your menu bar, all you have to do is the following:

Go to Instagram.com and login into your account. Click on the User Agent Switcher icon on your menu bar, and then go down and select iPhone 3.0.

Now reload Instagram.com

You should now see Instagram with a photo button near the bottom of the screen. This means that you can upload Instagram pictures to your account in a laptop or desktop computer.

After you are done uploading pictures to Instagram, make sure to go back to the User Agent Switcher, and choose Default User Agent. Now uploading pictures to Instagram no longer requires a mobile phone. YAH! Did you like this article? Let’s have a discussion in the comments below.
